Located on the East coast of Florida, West Palm Beach offers the student pilot year round flying. The tropical climate generally creates good weather, but experience can also be gained from the rapidly changing conditions encountered during the rainy season.

West Palm Beach is not only a great place to fly but is also a safe environment to live in. It offers many different things to do whilst you are here, to give you a break from the flying.

There are many different kinds of restaurants and bars to suit everyone's taste and pocket, fantastic beaches and a general holiday atmosphere.

Accommodation

If you are coming to Ocean Helicopters from out of state or a different country, then you may require accommodation for the duration of your stay. In and around West Palm Beach, there are a number of hotels and apartment complexes that you can choose from. We contacted a number of local hotels to get an idea of their rates. On average, you can expect to pay around $90 per night. Alternatively, Ocean Helicopters has a large house which we offer to our students as accommodation.

The house is in a beautiful Equestrian type location and stands on a 1 1/2 acre lot. We have 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a spacious kitchen area, 2 lounges, and a dining room. It is fully furnished and well equipped with a washer, dryer, satellite TV, high speed wireless internet etc. Contact us for rates.

Study Time/Time Off

Depending on what individual package you have determines how much studying time you will have. For those of you just hour building you will obviously have less studying than those on a course.

Either way, studying can be done a number of ways. You can self-study at either the school or in the comfort of the student accommodation, you can have ground school at a modest fee or the best way, in our opinion, is a little bit of both. This way you get a good basic knowledge from your instructor and with this knowledge your self-study lessons will make easier reading!

The helicopter flight school operates a seven-day week. If after a long week, however, you would like to rest or relax on Sunday, at no extra cost we will arrange a BBQ around the swimming pool. Or if you want an evening out we will show you the good places to go, whether it is a nice restaurant, a busy bar, live music or an evening out at the movies. Not only will you relax and unwind; you can swap stories about your week flying! Or if you just want to put your feet up, we will gladly show you the local beaches, for that total relaxed feel.

Our aim is to make this trip as cost effective and enjoyable as possible.
