Financial Aid
Ocean Helicopters does not offer direct financial aid, but there are a few organisations who may be able to help you raise funding for your flight training. Alternatively it is always a good idea to contact your own bank, to see if they can help you.
Sallie Mae Financial - Career Training Loan
This loan has been designed specifically to help students finance their training. It can be used for the total cost of education and certain related expenses. If the applicant has no credit or a poor credit history they may still qualify for a loan by applying with a creditworthy co-borrower. Minimum loan amount is $1,000. Interest rates are variable (monthly) and based on the Prime Rate plus a spread. The interest rate spread is determined by the applicant and the co-borrower's (if used) credit history. Interest rate starts at Prime +1 percent. Repayment begins 30 days after disbursement. Standard term is 15 years with minimum payments set at $30 a month per loan. AOPA Pilot Finance
This is run in conjunction with MBNA Bank, and offers personal loans to be used for any flight training expense. For more information, click here or call 1 800 882 8648.
Pilot Finance
This loan type can be used to finance part time training (1-5 lessons per week). For more information, click here or call 1 800 667 0201.
UK Students Career Development Loan
For UK students, a career development loan (CDL) is available which enables you to get up to £8000 (approx $15000) interest free for up to 3 years before having to start repayments, which allows you to do your training and build up enough hours to secure a well paid job in the helicopter industry before having to repay a penny. Ocean Helicopters is on the list of approved learning providers to enable you to do this. The money will be paid directly to us but held in an account for you. Contact us for more details and we can tell you how you can secure the full amount possible which is £8000.
